Republicans win senate, but this is not the time to gloat

In an article by the lovely Katie Pavlich, she quotes RNC chairman Reince Priebus as saying that winning the U.S. senate shows that the "American people have put their trust in the Republican Party."

While on the surface that may seem to be the case, I wonder if it isn't rather a case of the American people being sick of the way Democrats have run the U.S. into the ground! Perhaps, in their minds, anything is better than the Dems right now.

Trust is earned, and right now the Republicans have been given an opportunity to earn the trust of a people who are desperately looking for someone who would be willing to do what is right, instead of what is politically expedient. Political expediency is a disease known all to well by both sides of the political aisle.

As a South African, living in South Africa, I am very happy that the GOP has taken the Senate back. But, they will have to prove themselves.

I think that perhaps the first order of business should be to replace John Boehner as House Speaker. He has been too willing to compromise in the past and to replace him will show GOP resolve to do what is right.

Also, the Republicans will have to stand strong against Obama and his power grabs. It is time to turn the tables against him and to let the constitution accomplish what the founders meant it to do. Obama must be reined in and he MUST be made accountable to the constitution. He swore an oath to uphold the constitution. It is time to hold him to it.

Come GOP, make America good and strong again; the land of the free and the brave!
